Dear Colleagues, Graz takes great pleasure to host the XXIVth International Symposium on Pediatric Surgical Research in 2011 and invites participants from all over the world to attend this meeting which has been a forum influencing the future course of pediatric surgery through extensive research over the years. Experimental and clinical research in the field of pediatric surgery is expanding as more centers devote resources to the better understanding of various pathological states as well as towards the treatment of diseases. The exponential output in data from research activities in the past years has been further attributed to the possibility of extensive exchange and travel of researchers to centers of excellence worldwide. These centers have provided infrastructure and facilities to researchers and have helped them to develop and implement their investigations. Research in the field of pediatric surgery is unique due to the various organ systems surgically managed by pediatric surgeons as well as the wide range of patient size which expands from the fetus to the adolescent age group. The Styrian capital, Graz has a tradition in supporting research and education through its 5 Universities in the various field of arts and sciences. The Medical University of Graz is continuously striving to promote research in the field of medicine and has been providing state of the art facilities for scientists and clinicians working in the areas of basic and clinical sciences. The Province of Styria and the City of Graz during Autumn will provide a perfect ambience for the meeting, social activities and cultural events during this time.
